Chapter 2: Because I'm Not Google

Since October 7, 2022 I suffered from terrible nightmares . They started on the night my mother died, and they continued relentlessly. I accepted they were brought on by her passing, and I presumed they would go away in their own time. Each night however, the nightmares grew worse, more vivid, more hellish, and I often got only a few hours of sleep. Days turned to weeks, and the weeks stretched into months. Every night without exception I woke up to horrifying nightmares and couldn’t get back to sleep. At the advice of a friend, I began writing down in the notes section of my phone, so I kept it near my bed. I chronicled the bizarre and the deranged, all hoping to find common themes or repeated symbols. Maybe I could get to the bottom of these nightmares by identifying what my mind was trying to tell me? At the second month, I spoke to my doctor about the interrupted sleep.  She recommended clonadine, and I took it, though I didn’t see any noticeable benefits. As the months pa...
